Bournemouth have never reached the semi-finals of this competition, while the FA Cup represents the last chance for City to salvage something from a disappointing season.

Recent form

Manchester City have been in poor recent form, with only two wins in their last six games. They crashed out of the Champions League against Real Madrid, then lost to Liverpool in the league, before they succumbed to another defeat at the hands of Nottingham Forest. They also failed to beat Brighton, drawing at home.

Bournemouth are also in fairly poor recent form, with one win in their last five games, which came via penalties. Coincidentally that was in the last round of the FA Cup, against Wolves. They have been struggling a lot in the league in recent weeks, and have fallen to 10th place.

What’s been said?

Pep Guardiola has been critical of himself and his side, saying: “We don’t deserve a bonus this season. The managers, the backroom staff, the players, we don’t deserve – not even a watch.”

Andoni Iraola has said: “I think we have a big opportunity this weekend, anyone who steps on the pitch has to be ready to give everything, and even that might not be enough to beat City. The work for everyone is huge, but the chance to play at Wembley – for City it is less important as they play there a lot, but for us it is huge.

“The draw we cannot change, once it is finished it is what we have. We are in a different moment, we hope we are close to the level we give that day (in November), it is the only way we have a chance.”
