Japan, meanwhile, drew with both Sweden and the Netherlands while beating Tunisia in their group.
Brazil boss Carlo Ancelotti: “We need a lot of things: a strong mind, a strong heart, a clear mind.
“I think we have to be ready for anything that might take place in a knockout match, and a lot can happen in a knockout match. I think the team is ready. They’re motivated, they’re confident.”
Japan manager Hajime Moriyasu: “In the near term we believe we are able to win and we believe we have that chance… even for this World Cup.
“Some people said Japan would be a dark horse and we will be playing with that in mind.”
