Blues desperate to nix losing run as pressure grows on Liam Rosenior

The Blues come into the match with just one win in their last seven matches, that sole victory coming in the FA Cup against League One relegation fodder Port Vale.

Another gormless defeat by Manchester United on Saturday, preceded by well-attended protests against the club’s ownership, has not helped to brighten the mood.

Brighton have become something of a bogey team for Chelsea since BlueCo bought the club in 2022. They bought players and staff from the south coast outfit in a bid to replicate their ‘buy low, sell high’ transfer model, but results have not manifested on the pitch.

The Blues have won just four of their nine matches against Brighton since Roman Abramovich sold the club, and have lost each of their last three matches against the Seagulls by an aggregate score of 8-2.

Brighton’s impressive form was tarnished somewhat on Saturday as they failed to beat Tottenham, requiring a last-gasp equaliser from Georginio Rutter to ensure they took a point back to the AmEx.

They can be confident of nicking a point, though, against this withering Chelsea side.
