Celtic aiming to avenge last season’s cup final defeat to Aberdeen on penalties
Celtic face Dunfermline in the Scottish Cup final at Hampden Park this afternoon.
It has been somewhat of a whirlwind 12 months for Celtic since losing the final on penalties to Aberdeen last season, with Brendan Rodgers leaving and the legendary Martin O’Neill returning for two spells either side of the Wilfried Nancy appointment.
Nancy was in charge when the Hoops slumped to a shocking 3-1 loss to St Mirren in the Scottish League Cup final back in December, though O’Neil did lead the side to a dramatic Scottish Premiership title win last weekend.
Trailing Hearts by a point heading into the final day of the season, Celtic came from behind to successfully retain their crown and are heavy favourites to complete a domestic double.
Dunfermline may have missed out on promotion to the Premiership but have beaten Hibernian, Aberdeen and Falkirk en route to reaching a sixth Scottish Cup final.
This will be the fifth time Celtic have faced Dunfermline in a Scottish Cup final, winning the last four and are out to avoid suffering a third straight domestic cup final loss.
