Blues hoping to snap growing winless run as Reds close in on European berth
Chelsea make the journey up to Liverpool today as they look to get their spiralling Premier League campaign back on track.
The Blues have lost each of their last six Premier League matches and been held goalless in five of them, with Joao Pedro’s last-gasp bicycle kick against Nottingham Forest last time out their first league goal since March 4.
This trip to Anfield, though, will be their final match before facing Manchester City in the FA Cup final, meaning it is Calum McFarlane’s last chance to get the side on song before their date with destiny at Wembley.
That could be their last chance to qualify for European football as they continue their steady slide down the table.
Liverpool are not in peak form themselves, but have won three of their last four in the league. They sit fourth with three matches left to play, but the congested nature of the table means their European status likely will not be confirmed till the final day of the season.
Victory here, though, will put them three points clear of Aston Villa and five ahead of Bournemouth, if only temporarily.
TV channel: In the UK, the game will be televised live on TNT Sports. Coverage starts at 11am BST on TNT Sports 1 ahead of a 12.30pm kick-off.
