On Friday, September 27, 2025, LA Galaxy will host Kansas City at Dignity Health Sports Park. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. PT (10:30 p.m. ET).
Sporting Kansas City : local radio on Sports Radio 810 WHB / 103.7 FM and via the SKC app (local commentators Blake Aerni & Jon Kempin on the call). The Sporting KC match preview has the listening info.
The LA Galaxy host Sporting Kansas City in a matchup between two teams having a tough season. Both are out of the playoffs, a big disappointment for Sporting KC and a huge collapse for the Galaxy, the 2024 MLS Cup champions.
The Galaxy are at the bottom of the Western Conference with 21 points, while Sporting have 27 points after losing four of their last five games. Defense has been a major issue for both, as they are two of the worst backlines in the league.
Their earlier meeting in May ended 1–0 in favor of Sporting, but recent form gives LA a slight edge. For the Galaxy, Dejan Joveljic is the bright spot up front, while Sporting’s away form has made this season a total disaster for the reigning champions.
LA Galaxy: Novak Micovic, Miki Yamane, Maya Yoshida, Chris Rindov, John Nelson, Edwin Cerrillo, Diego Fagundez, Elijah Wynder, Harbor Miller, Gabriel Pec, Joseph Paintsil.
Kansas City: John Pulskamp, Khiry Shelton, Ian James, Alan Montes, Logan Ndenbe, Jake Davis, Zorhan Bassong, Magomed-Shapi Suleymanov, Santiago Muñóz, Mason Toye, Dejan Joveljić.
MLS all-time head-to-head:
The last time these two clubs faced off was May 5th, 2025, where Kansas won 1–0.
Both teams have problems to solve, especially at the back. Sporting KC have been bad away and lately; LA have been bad overall but are at home and have shown some improvement since a terrible start. Expect a tight, low-to-moderate scoring game.
