Hamburger SV have signed 27-year-old Zambia forward Patson Daka on a free transfer after his Leicester City contract expired at the end of last season, BuLi News reports.

HSV board member for sport Kathleen Krüger said Daka matches the centre-forward profile they had targeted, praising his tireless work in and out of possession and his team-first approach. She added that they are convinced he has the qualities to make an immediate difference, and that the club are delighted to welcome him.

Daka said he is thrilled to join and eager to get started. He described himself as passionate and energetic, noting that scoring goals is his main task and the way he can help the team.

He said he has watched several HSV matches and liked what he saw, calling it an exciting side he is happy to join. He thanked the hierarchy for a warm reception and spoke of a family atmosphere from the first conversation.

Daka said the overall package felt right, so his decision did not take long. He added that a series of positive discussions made the choice straightforward.
