FCB sporting director Christoph Freund has for the first time publicly commented on the rumors surrounding the transfer of official Kathleen Krüger to HSV

Kathleen Krüger is apparently on the verge of a move to Hamburger SV, Freund confirmed at the press conference ahead of the home game against Heidenheim: „We can confirm that Kathleen has informed us that she is in talks with HSV.“

They are in talks and respect her wish to take on a new challenge. At the same time, the Bayern boss made it clear how highly regarded Krüger is internally: „Kathleen has been at the club for a very long time, has held various positions. She is very highly regarded and has done a top job for FC Bayern Munich over many years.“

As team manager, she was a central figure in the background for a long time, organizing processes around the professional team and later taking on even more responsibility as Head of Organization and Infrastructure. „It’s an honour that such a big traditional club has contacted her for such a big job. A very nice story for Kathleen,“ added Freund

For FC Bayern, however, a departure could become a problem and is causing mixed feelings at Säbener Straße. Although Krüger’s potential career move is generally welcomed, not everyone internally is said to be happy about losing such an important personality. Bigger role at HSV

At Hamburger SV, on the other hand, Krüger could take on a much more prominent position. She is considered the preferred candidate for the position of sports director and is expected to play a key role in determining the club’s sporting direction in the future

In this role, she would work closely with the other decision-makers and be responsible for both transfer strategies and structural developments. For Krüger, it would be the next big step in her career – moving away from a key organizational role in the background to a management position with public responsibility.
