Brighton boss Fabian Hürzeler reinforced that his side are “really positive” despite picking up just one win in 10 ahead of their clash against Everton on Saturday.

The Seagulls suffered a late 2-1 defeat against Fulham last weekend, but have seen more success at home with just one Premier League defeat at the Amex this season.

Everton go into the fixture 10th, two places and three points above their hosts, and can put pressure on rivals Liverpool for their sixth-place spot or better with a win.

“Tomorrow is a great opportunity”

After a strong start to the campaign, sitting fifth in the table at the end of November, Brighton have struggled to turn draws into wins since.

After a strong start to the campaign, sitting fifth in the table at the end of November, Brighton have struggled to turn draws into wins since.

“We always need to win games. The recent performances were good, of course there’s a lot of frustration about the results,” Hurzeler said.

“We tried to channel the frustration during the week, I saw a really good reaction from the team – we’re really positive.

We all know that we want to reach our goals and for that we need wins; for that we need to stick together and tomorrow is a great opportunity to do that.

“We see that we are close, we see that we are there, we just have to manage the key situations of the game better.”

The German also said he understands the frustration of supporters but hopes they will get behind the team against the Toffees.

He said: “For me it’s very important that they can be frustrated with me but the players are 100% giving everything that they have.

“They try to show their best performances and go to the limit every game.

“So I really hope they give them the support they need. [There’s been a] great reaction, great positivity, [and a] good atmosphere during the week.”

“We’re very confident we can outplay them”

The Seagulls have beaten the Toffees just once in their last six encounters but Hürzeler is confident his side can take all three points on Saturday.

“[They’re] difficult to beat. We need patience, we need good positioning, we need good decision making.

“They have a lot of experience in their squad and a lot of players who know how to win Premier League games.

“We are very confident that we can outplay them and that we can create chances against them.”

The game will kick-off at 3pm (GMT).
