Hugo Bayomog to swap Lille for rivals Lens | OneFootball

According to a report from Foot Mercato, Hugo Bayomog (17) will leave Lille OSC following the end of his youth contract to sign with rivals RC Lens on a two-year professional trainee contract. 

A talented prospect from the Lille academy, his boyhood club were reportedly slow to act and allowed other clubs in Ligue 1 and Ligue 2, as well as RSC Anderlecht, to make their case to the young right-back. 

The loss of Bayomog follows the departures of other prospects, with Kingsley Olufade (18) leaving for RC Strasbourg Alsace and Jephthé Malanda (18) for Olympique de Marseille. Of the three, Bayomog might be the bitterest pill to swallow, with Lille losing out to their local rivals. 

Lille, in recent history, has been the dominant side of the two when it comes to talent production. However, Lens’s success in the past season was partially built on a pathway that linked the academy with the first team, with Ismaëlo Ganiou, Kyllian Antonio, and Rayan Fofana (among others) featuring.
