Spain’s march to the 2026 World Cup final sparked jubilant scenes in Valencia CF’s Girona camp under Carlos Corberán, with Hugo Duro playfully seeing off Dimitri Foulquier after France were knocked out.
According to Superdeporte, as the semi-final ended the Valencia full-back, a Guadeloupe international with French nationality, left the room to applause and laughter from team-mates. Duro posted an Instagram story of the moment captioned “Hasta mañana, amigo”, tagging Foulquier and adding two clapping emojis.
The right-back took the banter in good spirits, smiling before departing. He later joined the squad travelling to Bilbao that afternoon, although he cannot feature until the 26/27 season.
Valencia CF also shared footage from the team dinner, showing exuberant celebrations of goals by Mikel Oyarzabal and Pedro Porro that sealed a 0-2 win and Spain’s place in the final.
Hugo Duro and Javi Guerra were among those who leapt from their seats to roar in each Spain goal.
With only three matches left, the tournament has already delivered a stark club statistic. For the first time since the 1974 World Cup in Germany, no player under contract at Valencia has played a single minute at a World Cup, ending a 52-year run across 12 consecutive editions, despite this being the largest finals with 48 teams and 1,248 footballers.
