Hugo Farias reached 100 days on the sidelines on Saturday after suffering a lateral meniscus injury in his right knee during Corinthians' 3-0 win over Capivariano on 5 February in the Campeonato Paulista. According to Meu Timao, the setback has kept the left-back out of club work since.
He started that match but departed before half-time after a challenge with Mike on the left flank, his leg stuck in the turf. He left in clear pain and was replaced by Matheus Bidu on 40 minutes.
Days later the club confirmed surgery was required. On 11 February he underwent a meniscal suture to repair a bucket-handle tear of the lateral meniscus at Hospital Albert Einstein, performed by Dr Moisés Cohen and accompanied by Dr Ricardo Galotti, head of the medical department.
At the time, his return was estimated at four to six months, placing a possible comeback between June and August. So far the defender has missed 24 Corinthians matches.
His absence initially left Corinthians light at left-back, with Matheus Bidu the only option. The club soon agreed Fabrizio Angileri's return, and the Argentine became immediate understudy to the No 21.
Farias arrived from Goiás at the start of 2024. He has played 75 times, including 62 starts, with 32 wins, 20 draws and 23 defeats, and six assists. He has been part of the squads that won the Campeonato Paulista and Copa do Brasil in 2025, and the Supercopa do Brasil in 2026.
