After Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos, Manchester United expect to complete their midfield rebuild with a third midfield signing.

Transfer talks have already opened. The outlet reports:

“Manchester United and Newcastle have both held talks with representatives of Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Hugo Larsson as the race for the gifted young midfielder picks up pace.”

They add: “Initial contact has been made by both Premier League clubs as they assess a potential move for the 22-year-old Sweden international, who is open to leaving the Bundesliga side.”

Larsson, often likened to Manchester City’s Rodri, could be the wildcard signing that completes United’s midfield puzzle.

Those who have watched the Swede regularly say he is an expert ball-winner with the technical ability to break lines and thread killer passes from deep.

Perfect for the Premier League

At 6’1″, Larsson boasts the physicality and pace to meet the Premier League’s demands.

United still must win the battle with Newcastle United, but with Champions League football on offer and assurances of a key role, INEOS should easily convince him to choose Old Trafford over St James’ Park.

Frankfurt are reportedly willing to part with their midfield enforcer for around £42 million. For United, that fee could represent the final piece in a carefully constructed midfield rebuild.
