Hugo Larsson has ruled out leaving Eintracht Frankfurt this summer and set out how he wants to be used.
"I'm really very happy here. I have no plans to leave. It's the same story every year," said Larsson, speaking to Frankfurter Rundschau.
"I already noticed at the start of the last season that my role would change. I was more of a number six. That's not how I became so successful in this club."
"I became successful because I had a 'free' role. At the side of Ellyes (Skhiri) I had a lot of freedom. As a holding six, you don't have those freedoms."
The 22-year-old was previously very close to a Saudi Pro League move.
He missed the World Cup after Sweden coach Graham Potter omitted him, and has 10 goals in 119 Eintracht appearances since joining from Malmo.
Skhiri is most likely to leave the club, despite his move to Köln seeming to collapse at an advanced stage. Adi Hütter’s side are expected to complete the signing of defensive midfielder Raphael Onyedika from Club Brugge after Noël Aséko joined from FC Bayern.
