Hugo Oliveira to become Strasbourg head coach after Gary O'Neil exit | OneFootball

Hugo Oliveira is set to become Strasbourg head coach, replacing Gary O'Neil, who joined Ipswich two weeks ago.

According to L'Équipe, the 47-year-old, under contract at Famalicao, was preferred to Wilfried Nancy and will move for a fee slightly above €2m, despite a €4m release clause.

A former assistant to Marcos Silva at Fulham, Everton, Watford and Hull City, Oliveira has led Famalicao since December 2024.

He took training on Friday morning but was absent for Saturday's friendly against the Under-23s, which finished 5-0. He is expected in Alsace on Sunday with his staff to sign his contract, whose length has not been disclosed.

Oliveira is expected to oversee training on Monday, with a pre-season camp in Faro starting on 19 July. Famalicao are expected to replace him with Carlos Carvalhal.
