Leeds United’s £34m capture of Tarik Muharemovic has been backed as smart business, with a rival manager tipping the centre-back to suit Daniel Farke’s physical approach after his five-year move from Sassuolo.
The 23-year-old Bosnia and Herzegovina international became Leeds’ second-highest purchase, recruited to replace outgoing Pascal Struijk. He featured as Bosnia reached the last-32 before losing to the USA.
“He's a very good player,” Hull City boss Sergej Jakirovic said. “He had a very good season in Sassuolo.” He was speaking to The Yorkshire Post.
“It will be a good profile for Leeds. He grew up in Austria so he speaks German and they [Leeds] have coaches from Germany. so I think he will adapt very well.”
Leeds supporters may have to wait to see Muharemovic, with his post-World Cup break ongoing after a brief visit to Elland Road. He is likely to join pre-season midway through the US tour.
Leeds travel to the MKM Stadium on 30 December, with Hull due at Elland Road on 3 March.
“As a player I will give everything for this club,” Muharemovic said. “I will give everything every game, I just want to win. I hate to lose and I will fight for every ball, even with it's my head or my feet, I'm going.” He told LUTV.
