Two draws in a row in some of the easier games Chelsea have remaining this season have proved to be a body blow for the Blues and their hopes of making the top 5.
We should be a team contending for titles, and getting into the top 4 should be guaranteed. The fact that we’ve got the safety cushion of a bonus place this season should make it even easier.
But somehow Enzo Maresca and this group are in the process of bungling it, dropping points in game after game since Christmas.
Speaking on Monday Night Football last night, Jamie Carragher agreed that the two points dropped on Sunday may be those which prove fatal to our chances:
“It’s a massive blow that. It’s not just the two points that they missed out on. It’s one of those fixtures you see on paper that you think ‘that’s a guaranteed three points’, because Chelsea have got really tough fixtures between now and the end of the season,” Sky’s top pundit said.
“I don’t see them making the Champions League, I don’t see it. We keep talking about connection, you see it with Newcastle and their supporters, you see it with Forest, they’ll be fighting to get them over the line. I don’t think there’s any real connection between the manager and the supporters there. I fear for Chelsea.”

The lack of connection with fans was something he then went into detail on.
He’s not kidding about those fixtures. To close out the season we face Fulham, Everton, Liverpool, Newcastle, Man U and Nottingham Forest. Right now, how many of those games would you back us to win? If we can’t beat Ipswich at home, how many of those sides are we really expecting to beat?
