"I gave my all" – Albert Riera posts emotional statement after Eintracht Frankfurt exit | OneFootball

On Sunday evening, Eintracht Frankfurt announced that Albert Riera had left his role as head coach by mutual consent just around three and a half months after taking over.

The Spanish coach has now taken to Instagram to share his side of events following his brief spell at Deutsche Bank Park.

“I assume my responsibility as a coach to make this team win. My regret is that I faced many issues during the process that without time, pre-season and new [transfer] market [window], we all knew at the club that it would be difficult,” Riera wrote.

Riera repeatedly made headlines during his short tenure for controversial remarks in interviews.

“I felt that I was a protection of club and players performances and I would do it again because I thought this is what we needed to be focus on win so I didn’t care about me personally. My target was, is and always will be the same…improve the players and make the club win,” he explained.

Ultimately, the 44-year-old feels that although he gave everything, he was not able to fully show his abilities.“I came as I left, 8th position. It was not enough to reach the target. And I accept how it is this profession,” he stated.

"I’m leaving with the feeling that I gave my all, in another country I didn’t experience before, without family and with many nights in the training ground thinking and trying to find solutions how to win, so I go in peace but sad knowing that you just use 20% of the power of Albert.

“I’m grateful to have been part of the history of Eintracht Frankfurt and I wish nothing but the best for the future,” Riera wrote.
