Chelsea insider Matt Law has revealed what he keeps hearing about club captain Reece James as he grows into the role.

James very much appears to be back to his best after a series of injury problems over the past few years, and Enzo Maresca deserves credit for the way he’s managed the England international.

The 26-year-old is now playing regularly at both right back and in midfield, and is having a huge impact on the pitch.

Matt Law on what he’s hearing about Reece James

James scored a brilliant free kick against Newcastle last weekend, and is certainly leading by example on the pitch.

The academy graduate also seems to be making improvements off it in regards to his leadership, and Law has revealed what he’s heard about James.

“And I hear more and more about him, about him around the training ground, about him around the dressing room. He’s listened to, he’s a voice,” he told The London is Blue Podcast.

“And he is just such a sensational player, whether it’s at right back or in midfield.

“I mean, we talk so much about Palmer and Caicedo. And in actual fact, someone messaged me the other day and said, there’s Chelsea with Reece James and there’s Chelsea without Reece James.”

Chelsea face tough Aston Villa test

Having fought back from 2-0 down to earn a point against Newcastle, Chelsea will be looking to carry that momentum into Saturday’s game against Aston Villa.
