“I really like…” – Former legendary wonderkid picks out the thing which makes Estevao special

Estevao was the star of the show as Chelsea beat Crystal Palace on Sunday, and on Match of the Day that night they were full of praise for the wonderkid.

Wayne Rooney knows a thing or two about breaking into a Premier League team as a precocious teenager, and he spoke about his thoughts on the Brazilian:

“I’ve been really impressed, he’s a real superstar in the making,” Rooney said.

“He was outstanding. Caused Crystal Palace problems all game. He stays out wide, and for someone so young to have that patience – sometimes you’re not in the game – but he causes problems. I really like his anticipation.”

We couldn’t agree more – the technical skill has been clear since the first moment we saw him. But what really stands out is his maturity mentally. The way he used his body on the run for this goal, for example, was something you just don’t expect a raw teenager to have in their locker.

Danny Murphy backs up Rooney’s praise

Wayne Rooney speaks about Liam Rosenior.

Fellow pundit Danny Murphy had similar things to say about the former Palmeiras kid:

“I saw him live against Arsenal in the semi-final of the League Cup. And he came up against Timber, who was playing on the left, and I’ve not seen anyone give Timber that many problems.”

We face Arsenal in the second leg of that game soon, and we’re all hoping Estevao can cause similar problems.

In other news…

Aaron Anselmino has been recalled from Dortmund, with the German side not happy about the short notice with which the Blues did this. There’s some debate about whether this unhappiness is justified.

Anselmino was clearly pretty keen to stay with Dortmund – he was very tearful as he said goodbye to his manager and teammates today in a social clip released by the club.
