“I want Celtic to live in the very best possible place that it can be,” Brendan Rodgers

Benjamin Nygren and Reo Hatate found the back of the net to give Celtic back-to-back Scottish Premiership victories which has opened up a four point lead over the latest Ibrox club already.
Although two of the Irishman’s summer signings in Kieran Tierney and Nygren combined nicely for the game’s opening goal, Rodgers, quite rightfully, reiterated his desire to further strengthen the squad ahead of a two-legged Champions League playoff encounter against either Slovan Bratislava or Kairat Almaty in just nine days time.
Speaking to Sky Sports post-match, Rodgers said: “We’ll see [whether signings will be in the door prior to the first leg next Wednesday]. Look, I think that I’ve got no news now at this very moment on where we’re at. Our job between now and the end of the window is to make Celtic the very best that we possibly can. In the meantime, we’ll continue to develop the players that are here and improve them.”
Rodgers added: “Of course, I want Celtic to live in the very best possible place that it can be. And for me, that’ll be us signing more players at the top end of the pitch. But I can’t magic them in there, and if they’re not there, then we’ll work with the players that are there and make them the very best that they can be.”
“We know what we need to strengthen. We know where we want to live and be the best that we can be – we have to.”
While the Celtic boss continues to anticipate more additions to his squad in the coming weeks, summer recruit Benji Nygren delivered a standout display against the Dons yesterday, scoring in the first half and setting up Hatate for the second to mark an impressive showing in the Granite City.
Brendan Rodgers continued: “He’s a player that can play in the eight, he can play as a 10, or he can play on the side. But in how we play, I’ve seen him very much as an eight, someone who can move the ball quickly, get turned in tight spaces, and then do what he’s done.”

“He gets in the box and he can get goals. It was a really good finish, but if you watch his movement from the first, you know, the first entry into the final third, he’s outside and then he comes in and then he’s done what we’ve asked him to do, which is get in the box as an eight to to score goals and create goals. So he can do that for us, and I will expect him to get many more goals.”
A class act is Brendan Rodgers. We should appreciate him while he’s still here.
