After a quiet January the Blues are expected to busy in the summer with a number of positions in the squad needing to be addressed.

Chelsea are said to still be in the market for a centre back, whilst it’s thought they want to add another midfielder and attacker.

Joe Cole names Robert Lewandowski and John Stones as ideal signings

It’s been reported Chelsea are open to signing players with proven Premier League experience, but until that action is taken fans will rightly remain sceptical.

Co-owner Behdad Eghbali has said the model will be tweaked, but this has been said in previous years and simply didn’t happen.

Chelsea’s priority this summer needs to be a centre back and another attacker, and they’ve been linked with Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers.

The Blues have also been linked with Brighton’s Jan Paul van Hecke, and Cole has now named his ideal summer signings.

“We need experience, someone to come in and support the young players,” he told Metro.

“I would be looking at Lewandoski. If his contract is up at Barcelona, get him in for a year.

“That could work, someone to come in and help the young players.

“He is a big name, has that stature and would be a huge presence in the dressing room. I think he could really help Joao Pedro and Liam Delap.

“John Stones as well maybe if City let his contract expire. He is another who could be an big presence in the dressing room, to help and nurture the great young centre-halves we have at Chelsea.

“He might not be able to play 50 or 60 games anymore but will improve players around him.”
