Ian Cathro has leaned on rotation to keep ASSE engaged and protected, using almost all his changes in four of the opening five games.
According to Le Progres, these moves were not driven by injuries, aside from Ferreira’s early withdrawal in the second match. He made five changes against Clermont and Montpellier, and four at Sochaux and Dijon.
Boosted by six summer signings, the head coach is setting a rhythm that keeps everyone involved while managing workloads. He has largely kept faith with a settled XI unless required, using alternatives to spread minutes.
At Dijon (2-3) he tweaked the system to bring in Davitashvili for Breum. Against Montpellier (3-1) he advanced Svetlin into the No 10 role, allowing Jaber to resume in front of the defence.
Before their sixth stop at Dunkerque, the Verts took a day to unwind.
