Ibrahim Hassan speaks out on Emam Ashour’s crisis with Al Ahly

The director of the Egyptian national team, Ibrahim Hassan, has categorically denied any involvement from the Pharaohs’ technical staff in the dispute between Emam Ashour and his club, Al Ahly.

The Cairo-based club had indeed announced a two-week suspension for the player, following disciplinary measures taken after his absence when the squad departed for Tanzania for the CAF Champions League.

Speaking on television, Ibrahim Hassan emphasized that Emam Ashour is an immensely talented player, but that he can sometimes be swayed by misleading information that disrupts his focus. He also expressed regret over the player’s current situation, recalling the efforts made to help him regain peak form.

He clarified that the player will have the full support of the team as long as he demonstrates commitment and discipline. However, any lapse could stall his progress. Ibrahim Hassan thus advised Ashour to quickly reflect on his actions and apologize to Al Ahly’s fans as well as to the club itself.

Emam Ashour’s suspension is expected to end next Friday, which will allow him to rejoin group training after a period of individual work.
