Jordan forward Ibrahim Sabra, 20, has been ruled out of the World Cup after tearing ligaments in his left ankle in training, the federation announced.
He spent last season on loan at Lokomotiv Zagreb in Croatia from Götzepe in Türkiye.
It is a blow for Jordan as they prepare for the first World Cup in their history. Head coach Jamal Sellami is already without striker Yazan al-Naimat, who ruptured his cruciate ligaments during the Arab Cup in December.
The coaching staff are weighing up Youssef Qashi, 21, an attacking midfielder, or defender Mohammad Taha, 20, as Sabra’s replacement. Both play for Al-Hussein and are with the delegation that has travelled across the Atlantic.
Jordan face Colombia in a final warm-up on Monday 8 June at 1 am, French time, in San Diego, United States, before heading to their base in Portland. Placed in Group J with Argentina, Algeria and Austria, they open against Austria on 17 June at 6 am in Santa Clara.
