Linked with Benfica, Galatasaray striker Mauro Icardi is embroiled in a legal dispute in Türkiye over alleged unpaid rent in Istanbul.

Fanatik reports that the row began after he left a leased property four months before the end of a one-year agreement. The landlord then sought rent for the remaining term, totalling 8 million Turkish lira, around 150,000 euros at current rates.

Icardi refused to pay, which prompted an enforcement order. The Argentina international objected, and the property company petitioned the Istanbul Civil Peace Court to overturn his objection.

Those bringing the case say the contract obliges payment for the period outstanding even after early departure. That clause is now at the heart of the dispute, with each side arguing a different reading.

The case has been accepted by the judiciary in Türkiye and is set to be examined in the coming days. Meanwhile, Icardi’s future remains uncertain, with Benfica among the clubs linked.
