The January transfer window is well underway, and in League One, Plymouth Argyle are in desperate need of recruitments following a dismal first-half of the season.

Currently 16th in League One and on a three-game unbeaten run, the Pilgrims have slowly started to make their way up the league title. Nevertheless, new faces are still needed with goals lacking and defensive mistakes costing Tom Cleverley's side.

The winger has plenty of League One experience, and one Plymouth supporter is excited about the potential that Curtis offers.

At 29, Curtis is a player who knows League One like the back of his hand, having made 203 appearances in the division for Port Vale and Portsmouth.

Now, a move to Home Park looks to be on the cards, and when asked by Football League World if the winger is a player who could be welcomed in Devon, Plymouth Fan Pundit, Luke Hodge, said: "I'd be happy with that signing. He’s predominantly a left-sided player, left wing, left midfield. I think he can play on the other side. At the moment, we seem to be playing a 4-4-2 under Tom Cleverley or 4-2-3-1. So wide players, we are lacking a little bit.

"It's nice to have Amaechi back. We've obviously got Bali Mumba and the young Tegan Finn. But I'm not sure what's going to be happening with Finn, whether he's going out on loan or what's going to be happening with Mumba in this transfer window, but to get another one in the door would be a big help.

"He’s 29-years-old, so he’s got bags of experience, a bit of a seasoned League One player. He's played with Portsmouth before, and he's scored a few goals and got a few assists and done well at Port Vale, so he knows the league inside out."

Luke continued: "Given our last transfer window, which wasn't the best, and that's not to knock any of the signings we made, it was the lack of balance within the players who came in that was the problem. The lack of physicality and the lack of experience, which even though he's a winger, Curtis does have bags of experience and he's quite a physical player.

"I think he's over six foot, he's quite strong, quite direct, and he's known to have scored a few goals and assists. So, I’d like to trust Derek Adams, who has been brought into Argyle. And I think they've been looking at this window now for a couple of months to try and get it right.

"So, I kind of want to really want to trust their judgment call on the players they bring in now. Hopefully he does come through the door and hits the ground running. Hopefully a few more will follow after him as well."

Ronan Curtis will be a creative threat for Plymouth Argyle

It's been an inconsistent season for the winger in front of goal, and he has scored only twice, while registering just two assists in 19 League One games.

However, Curtis has created 29 chances for his teammates, and this will be extremely promising for Cleverley with Lorent Tolaj in fine form in the final third. Reuniting the Swiss striker with his former Port Vale teammate could help Plymouth climb the league table in the coming weeks and months.

The 29-year-old also has seven caps for the Republic of Ireland and this experience will come in crucial as the Pilgrims look to avoid relegation to League Two.
