Chelsea are in desperate need of experience and should attempt to make a move for Liverpool’s Andy Robertson according to Didi Hamann.

The Blues are having a dismal season and currently sit ninth in the league with just three games remaining, although they are in the FA Cup final.

Monday’s defeat to Nottingham Forest means Chelsea are on a run of six league defeats in a row, and they travel to Anfield on Saturday to face Liverpool.

Chelsea should try and sign Andy Robertson

Chelsea face a critical summer in more ways than one, with the Blues needing to appoint a new head coach, and add serious reinforcements to their squad.

It’s been reported Chelsea are prepared to add more players with proven Premier League experience this summer.

Co-owner Behdad Eghbali has said the model will be tweaked, but fans will only believe it when they actually see action taken.

Chelsea lack leadership, experience and know how in the squad, and Hamann thinks they should make a move for Robertson.

“Sometimes when things go badly, as they have now, the run of form is dreadful, you need experienced players who can calm young players down, where a young player looks up and somebody says to him, ‘Listen, lad, don’t worry about it, we’ll be fine,'” he said as quoted by Metro.

“A player like Andy Robertson, they should take him in a heartbeat. I think he’s exactly the type of player Chelsea needs or is crying out for.

“With one or two more experienced players, they’ve got to give themselves a chance. I don’t think the way the team is put together, they give themselves a chance.

“Andy Robertson, I’d take him at Chelsea in a heartbeat if he was interested.”
