Manchester United’s win over Arsenal last Sunday vindicated the club’s approach of prioritising Premier League-proven players in the transfer market.
Arsenal tried to pin United back, but the visitors had no trouble passing through them. Both Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha enjoyed the transitional nature of the play and used their intensity and clinical finishing to secure all three points for the Red Devils.
Earlier this week, it emerged that United have set their sights on another attacker lighting up the Premier League.
The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming Manchester United are interested in Everton winger Iliman Ndiaye.
Ndiaye, who is capable of receiving the ball in tight spaces and spinning past opponents, has “a growing number of admirers” within United. The 25-year-old believes his style of play “gets people off their seats”.
However, Everton are reluctant to sell their key player. Accordingly, the Toffees would only consider a sale if they receive a “mammoth fee”.
The club-record £75 million fee they received from Romelu Lukaku’s departure is being used as a benchmark.
Furthermore, the Senegal international will reportedly not force through a move away from Merseyside. Still, there is an air of optimism around United.
According to Teamtalk, United believe that they would be able to lure Ndiaye to Old Trafford and a deal for the £75 million-rated forward is “on”.
“The reason Ndiaye is such a good target is that he is attainable and also has transferable traits from Everton that are already proven within the Premier League,” the report adds.
The Red Devils have also been linked with AC Milan winger Rafael Leao. However, Teamtalk claims Ineos are not planning to make a move for the Portuguese, having made Ndiaye their preferred target.
Leao would make “a good headline”, but United consider someone like Ndiaye a better fit for the project.
