Barcelona are once again blending football with global music culture, and this time, the spotlight is on Olivia Rodrigo.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan giants have already decided the featured artist for their special kit in the upcoming El Clasico clash against Real Madrid on 10 May.
Rodrigo, one of the most influential young artists in the world right now, will see her branding appear on the Barcelona shirt for what is arguably the most-watched club fixture in football.
It is a move that continues Barcelona’s growing strategy of merging entertainment with sport, something that has already proven to be commercially powerful.
As per the outlet, preparations are already well underway, with photo shoots featuring first-team players wearing the special edition shirt having reportedly been completed.
All of this suggests that the campaign rollout is now entering its final phase.
As with previous collaborations, everything is being carefully timed to maximise global reach.
There is also an expectation that Rodrigo herself could be present on matchday.
Plans are being explored for her to attend the game live, following the trend set by previous artists linked with the club.
Notably, the last high-profile appearance came when Travis Scott attended a Barcelona vs Real Madrid clash during last season’s campaign, a match that ended in a dramatic 4-3 victory for Barcelona.
Meanwhile, Rodrigo will effectively take over from Ed Sheeran, who featured on the Barcelona shirt in the reverse fixture earlier this season at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Rodrigo now joins an exclusive list of artists who have been part of this initiative, including Drake, Rosalia, The Rolling Stones, Karol G, Coldplay, and Travis Scott.
