Premier League legend Alan Shearer believes midfielder Moises Caicedo is “improving rapidly” following his performance against Manchester United.
The Blues have made a good start to the season under Enzo Maresca and currently sit fourth, just a point behind surprise package Nottingham Forest in third.
There’s been improvement in several players since the start of the season with the likes of Nicolas Jackson, Noni Madueke and Pedro Neto impressing in recent weeks.
Perhaps the player to show the biggest improvement is Caicedo, who under the guidance of the 44-year-old is looking like the player he was at Brighton.
The 23-year-old initially struggled following his British record transfer in 2023, but started to find his feet over the second half of last season, and has taken his game to a new level at the start of this campaign.
The Ecuador international is arguably the first name on the team sheet along with Cole Palmer, and has excelled this season.

Against United he scored a brilliant volley to rescue a point for the Blues, and Troy Deeney claimed it was his best performance in a Chelsea shirt.
Caicedo has found himself playing with Romeo Lavia in recent weeks and former Blue Jason Cundy believes the duo are Chelsea’s strongest midfield pivot.
The Ecuadorian has rightly been praised for his form this season and Shearer believes he’s improving rapidly and named him in his Premier League Team of the Week.
“The Chelsea midfielder is improving rapidly, scoring a great goal, and was the best player on the pitch at Old Trafford,” he said.

It’s hard to disagree with Shearer and it’s funny now that Caicedo is playing well nobody is mentioning his price tag.
The midfielder will almost certainly have the night off on Thursday against Noah in the Conference League, before returning to the line-up for Sunday’s huge game against Arsenal.
