Over the years, Chivas Femenil has made increasingly frequent visits to the United States, where it has not only gained international experience but also forged an important bond with the Chivahermanos of the United States, who have shown their support for their beloved team at all times.
Our Rojiblancas are just a few days away from adding another international match to their record, in a completely new venue for Guadalajara Femenil. Do you remember each of the cities where the Rebaño has played? Let's take a quick look back.
The first US city to have the pleasure of hosting Chivas Femenil was Brownsville, Texas, in a high-caliber international friendly. On August 10, 2022, the Guadalajara team faced Inter Milan at Brownsville Sports Park in a thrilling 1-1 draw.
Two years later, we witnessed an unprecedented event with the creation of the Summer Cup, which pitted NWSL teams against the best of the Liga MX Femenil, including, of course, Guadalajara. Philadelphia hosted the Rojiblancas' first match against the Washington Spirit at Subaru Park on July 21, 2024. That afternoon in Pennsylvania, Alicia Cervantes scored the first official international goal for the Rebaño Sagrado.
Five days later, Chicago witnessed Guadalajara make history by becoming the first Mexican team to defeat an NWSL squad, beating the Chicago Red Stars 0-1 at SeatGeek Stadium thanks to a goal by 'Gaby' Valenzuela.
The Rebaño played for their place in the next round in New Jersey, visiting Gotham FC on August 2, amid a relentless storm that battered Red Bull Arena. Although the result was not favorable for our team, they closed out the best performance by a team from the pink circuit in that edition of the binational tournament.
This summer, the Rebaño visited Los Angeles to play a historic Clásico de México at BMO Stadium, amid an unbeatable atmosphere created by the Chiva Nation of California.
Now, the Guadalajara Femenil's Team will visit North Carolina for the first time, where they will surely also have the support of the Chivahermanos at WakeMed Soccer Park.
