Iñaki Williams has rejoined Athletic for the second phase of pre-season, with three weeks to prepare for their 22 August opener against Sevilla.

According to as.com, the forward returned after a three-week holiday following Ghana’s World Cup exit to Colombia in the last 32.

On a wet morning at Lezama he lightened the mood, having previously dropped by on the eighth for Edin Terzic’s first field session.

After tune-ups against Derio (0-3), Leioa (0-11) and Sestao River (0-2), then a stiffer outing with Eibar (2-2), Athletic face Racing Santander in Laredo on Wednesday at 19:00 and Burgos at El Plantío on Saturday at 19:00.

Williams started indoors with Vesga, Djaló and Vivian before heading outside. Gorosabel stopped after a five-minute jog, while Yeray joined the main group later.

Two higher-calibre tests await, trips to Olympique de Marsella on the ninth of August and Atalanta on 14 August. Spain’s World Cup winners Simón, Laporte and Nico are expected in Lezama around 10 August.
