Serie A side Milan look close to appointing Oliver Glasner as their new manager and the ex-Crystal Palace boss may already have a demand.
Daniele Longo has reported that Glasner is very likely to become the next Milan manager and it would only take a major twist for that to not happen. Latest contact with the Austrian took place yesterday and in that, he expressed the need to sign Jean-Philippe Mateta from the Eagles.
The two had a very impressive time at the club and it ended with Crystal Palace winning the Conference League. Get Italian Football News were close to the action around the striker in the winter as a knee problem made sure a move to Milan never went through.
Because of Glasner, the move could be back on the cards. The London club’s demand stands at €30 million but they believe a discount could be possible. He would be happy to join Milan and his intentions haven’t changed since January, when he was keen on the deal.
Signing Mateta could be a big way to send a message to Glasner for Milan. It would show they’re keen on backing him and his ideas and there couldn’t be a better way of starting off the Austrian’s project.
The Rossoneri need a striker and Mateta is someone who has proven himself at the highest level. His contract situation is appealing, as his contract runs out in 2027. This makes him quite a good candidate who can solve Milan’s issues and would fall within their financial parameters.
