“Incredibly poor” – Chelsea’s two lowest rated players from damaging Ipswich draw

You will not be surprised by Chelsea’s lowest rated player in yesterday’s draw with Ipswich.
It’s the man who has frustrated fans for two years now, Robert Sanchez. He got a 5.9/10 from WhoScored, making him the only player sub 6 on the team. Sanchez gave the ball away time and again with his shanked midfield passes. Against a good team, we would have been punished for that directly. In this case, it just led to the passage of play which brought the second goal.
A look at some of the ratings online agree with the data:
“Nervy start with his distribution, giving it away a couple of times. Goes long after pressure from the crowd and Ipswich ended up scoring their second,” Football.London wrote.
“Hard to put much blame on him for either goal, but the goalkeeper set a sour tone with incredibly poor distribution and looked a bag of nerves throughout,” said Goal.com.
If we fail to make the top 5 this season, Sanchez, and the decision to not replace him last summer, will be a huge factor.

Of the outfield players, WhoScored had Tosin Adarabioyo as bottom of the pile. “Not great for the first goal, along with Levi Colwill. Hooked at half-time,” read the Football.London report.
“Failed to deal with the physical threat of Hirst and didn’t give Colwill a shout for the run of Enciso leading to Ipswich’s opener. Hooked at the break,” said Goal.com
We said many times in the buildup to this game that the best thing Enzo Maresca could do was pick the same central defensive partnership consistently to help them build some familiarity. Instead, he consistently has mixed things up, and it felt like we paid for that yesterday.
