Manchester United will opt against activating Jadon Sancho’s one-year contract option and instead allow him to leave for nothing next June.
Previously, reports had suggested the Red Devils’ key decision-makers would utilise the 12-month clause in order to protect Sancho’s resale value.

After forking out £73 million for Sancho in 2021 and getting only two-and-a-half seasons of service out of him, you could understand United being desperate to recuperate at least some funds from his departure.
However, after conceding that his start to life at Aston Villa hasn’t been the most eye-catching for any potential suitors, United are prepared to bid farewell to Sancho at the end of the term and a ‘year ahead of schedule’, as per talkSPORT.
The 25-year-old has made six appearances under Unai Emery thus far, including one in which he was substituted in and out of the same game.
He has yet to start in the Premier League, and has been an unused option for matches against Everton, Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur. Heading into matchweek 11, Sancho has played only 69 minutes.

There is no buy option or obligation included in his agreement with Villa, meaning he will return to Old Trafford in May next year to discuss the next steps with United, although this is likely just to set in stone that he’ll be leaving as a free agent.
The club are also said to be unwilling to continue forking out his £200,000-a-week wages – a luxury the attacker will likely have to relinquish when he starts negotiating with his new employers over the coming months.
Sancho will leave United with just 83 appearances to his name, including a measly 12 goals and six assists.
