The Guardian reports that Gianni Infantino already has the backing of more than 200 of FIFA’s 211 member associations ahead of the March 2027 election, leaving him strongly placed for a fourth term.
The DFB did not sign a support letter for his re-election.
No rival candidate has emerged for the vote, which is due to take place at FIFA Congress in Morocco in March 2027.
Infantino, 57, was first elected in February 2016 after Issa Hayatou stepped in as acting president following Sepp Blatter’s suspension.
His tenure has brought changes to the men’s international and club World Cups, and FIFA has faced criticism over incidents at the ongoing World Cup in North America. He is in no danger of losing the presidency.
