FC Bayern appears to be preparing for all possible scenarios on the defensive end. Although Min-jae Kim is currently more likely to stay in Munich, according to a report, club officials have already inquired about a Bundesliga defender.

With Ismael Saibari and Nathaniel Brown, FC Bayern has already signed its first two summer acquisitions. However, further transfers are likely to depend largely on whether the Munich club first sells players and generates additional revenue.

Things could still shift in the coming weeks, particularly on the defensive side. Hiroki Ito and Sacha Boey are still considered potential transfer targets. Min-jae Kim has also been repeatedly linked with a departure recently, although the signs have recently pointed more toward him staying.

Bayern is monitoring the market

Nevertheless, a sale of the South Korean player cannot be completely ruled out. Should Kim himself push for a transfer or a financially attractive offer come on the table, Bayern would have to react.

That’s why club officials are apparently already scouting the market for possible alternatives. Most recently, Gleison Bremer and Yann Bisseck, among others, have been linked to the record champions.

Now another name has surfaced.

According to the Augsburger Allgemeine, FC Bayern has inquired about Chrislain Matsima. The 24-year-old center back has been under contract with FC Augsburg since 2024 and has made strong progress in his first Bundesliga season.

Augsburg signed the Frenchman from AS Monaco for around five million euros at the time. Since then, Matsima has significantly increased his market value and has drawn the attention of several clubs with his consistent performances.

According to the Augsburger Allgemeine, several clubs are monitoring the center back, though there have been no concrete negotiations or discussions regarding a transfer so far.

Whether FC Bayern’s interest will lead to more will likely depend primarily on developments surrounding Min-jae Kim. Currently, there is no urgent need for action in Munich’s defense. However, should the personnel situation change, Matsima could become a serious candidate for the center-back position at the German record champions.
