Iñigo Cabacas Herri Harmaila says a “fascist attack” occurred in the María Díaz de Haro square, where the group gathers before Athletic matches at San Mamés. The group said in a post that memorials and a nearby bar were targeted.

They reported the plaque honouring Iñigo Cabacas had its flowers removed, the monument to Joseba Asensio ‘Kirruli’ was defaced, and a window at the herriko taberna was smashed.

Images shared with the post showed the Cabacas plaque stripped of flowers and paint daubed across the tribute to Asensio.

A window at the tavern was also broken, and its shutter carried a Spanish phrase reading “etarras de mierda, hijos de puta”.

Asensio was convicted of collaboration with armed groups, causing damage, and unlawful possession of weapons. He died in 1986 in the Herrera de la Mancha prison, officially from a heart attack while sleeping, though his associates alleged serious medical neglect linked to prior health problems.
