FC Barcelona will lock horns with CA Osasuna in La Liga on Thursday without a number of key personnel in the defensive unit.

Ronald Araujo’s international commitments in South America make it impossible for him to return in time to be ready to participate in the match.

Meanwhile, Pau Cubarsi has also been practically ruled out of the contest as he still recovers from an ankle sprain he suffered last week while playing for Spain.

Andreas Christensen, still recovering from a calf injury he sustained a few weeks back, is also expected to miss out on Thursday.

Christensen could return in 10-15 days

Now, according to Javi Miguel of AS, Christensen is expected to rejoin group training in a few days and could receive his medical discharge in 10-15 days.

It has been an injury-riddled campaign for the Danish international, who has played just 26 minutes of football throughout the season – which came on the opening day against Valencia.

The defender missed the first half of the season due to Achilles tendinopathy which required surgery. Having resumed training in January, he suffered a calf injury that sidelined him for a few more weeks.

Just when he was closing in on a comeback, Christensen suffered a relapse of his calf problem.

Now, though, the former Chelsea ace is understood to be in the final stretch of his recovery and is expected to resume training with the rest of the group in the coming days. His return, thus, could take place in 10-15 days.

However, it would mean that Christensen will not only miss Thursday’s match against Osasuna but also Sunday’s league encounter vs Girona while his availability for the Copa del Rey semi-final second leg against Atletico Madrid also seems unlikely.
