A player who was injured last weekend has given a boost to Enzo Maresca by playing in the international break.

The Blues have enough injuries to content with right now so they certainly don’t need any more added to it – Chelsea got lucky with injuries for a long time and we all thought they had gotten on top of them, but we had a real influx of them in the last few weeks and have had a very depleted squad.

In Chelsea’s last game, a win against Liverpool, both of our centre backs had to go off injured during the game and these were pretty much our only out and out centre backs available at that time anyway.

Both Josh Acheampong and Benoit Badiashile came off injured during the game and Chelsea had to put Reece James and Jorrel Hato at centre back for the rest of the game.

Josh Acheampong started in England Under-21’s 4-0 win over Moldova on Friday despite sustaining a knock in the Liverpool game.

The fact that he started that game is great news for Chelsea and Maresca, and it looks like he has come through it unscathed as well. It should mean that he will now be available for Chelsea’s next game after the international break.
