Injury blow for Valencia as Unai Núñez ruled out of Martínez Valero clash | OneFootball

According to Superdeporte, Valencia returned to training three days before a pivotal visit to the Martínez Valero, but the session brought bad news as Unai Núñez was ruled out.

The defender left the Celta Vigo match with discomfort, has been treated since Monday, and did not work with the group. Swiss centre-back Eray Cömert also felt issues against Celta Vigo, but he trained normally.

Carlos Corberán’s side resumed on Wednesday after a day off. Besides Núñez, the absences remained Julen Agirrezabala, Mouctar Diakhaby, Dimitri Foulquier and José Copete.

Núñez had become a key figure in the second half of the season, often used at right-back to mirror last year’s structure. He has been viewed as more reliable than Thierry Rendall or the injured Foulquier.

For the franjiverdes clash, Corberán will turn to the Portuguese full-back in Núñez’s place. Renzo Saravia is the alternative, though he has yet to debut and appears an unlikely pick.

Valencia aim to seal survival at the Martínez Valero and, if results fall their way, keep alive hopes of edging towards the top half.
