In what could be a boost for Real Madrid, young midfielder Eduardo Camavinga has returned to partial training with the squad.
The 22-year-old Frenchman, who has been out since April due to an adductor tear, was seen completing part of the training session with his teammates.
This development comes as a welcome sign for the club and fans alike, as Camavinga continues his recovery.
The team returned to the training ground just hours after their 1-1 draw against Al-Hilal in the Club World Cup opener.
While Kylian Mbappe remained absent due to his recent hospitalisation for gastroenteritis, Camavinga’s presence was a bright spot.
According to an official update from Real Madrid, the players worked on fitness drills, followed by possession exercises, shooting practice, and small-sided games. Camavinga was involved in a portion of these activities, suggesting that his recovery is progressing well.
Camavinga picked up his injury in late April during a La Liga match against Getafe. A tough challenge from an opposition player left him with an adductor tear, forcing the then-manager Carlo Ancelotti to remove him in the final minutes of the game.
Initial expectations ruled Camavinga out of the entire Club World Cup, with hopes focused on getting him fit in time for the start of the new season.
But now, things appear more positive. While he will not feature in the next match against Pachuca, there is cautious optimism that he could be available if Real Madrid advance further in the competition.
His return to group training, even in a limited capacity, is an encouraging sign for Xabi Alonso’s side.
With Real Madrid pushing to make a deep run in the Club World Cup, having a fully fit Camavinga available, even for the latter stages, could make a real difference. For now, the focus remains on his gradual return, but the signs are certainly heading in the right direction.
