Inquiry opened into Santos fan run over by police in Itaquera | OneFootball

The Military Police have opened an inquiry after a Santos supporter died when he was run over by a police vehicle on Sunday at Neo Química Arena during the Paulistão match against Red Bull Bragantino.

According to Globo.com, the death was recorded as involuntary manslaughter by a driver at the 24th police district, Ponte Rasa, and the case will be handled by the 65th district in Arthur Alvim.

Forensic examinations are under analysis by the Medical Legal Institute and the Institute of Criminalistics. Once the results are in, reports will be reviewed for any criminal measures.

Authorities have not officially confirmed the victim’s identity, and Santos has not received detailed information about what happened in Itaquera.

He was named as Alex Nunes Pinheiro do Carmo, known as Acarajé. The club lamented his death and made itself available to assist the authorities.
