Luis Enrique was a restless presence on the Paris Saint-Germain bench in the 3-0 Champions League win at Chelsea, relaying instructions with assistant Rafel Pol from first whistle to last.
At 22:47 he shook Liam Rosenior’s hand and, after a restrained celebration of qualification with Luis Campos, relief and fatigue were evident. L'Équipe notes that much.
He keeps rituals, starting only at 20:57 beside Pol, a firm bump for Rosenior and a glance to the PSG end before settling into analysis.
Five minutes in he rose as Khvitcha Kvaratskhelia struck for 1-0, joy instantly followed by correction. Warren Zaïre-Emery received positional guidance and Marquinhos’s stray diagonal drew irritation, while Joao Neves signalled pain.
He barked at Ousmane Dembélé to press, yet Bradley Barcola’s 14th-minute finish for 2-0 did not settle him. Instructions went straight to Nuno Mendes, with Enrique still bristling at the off-ball work.
Paris dominated but he refused to ease up, almost running with Kvaratskhelia and Dembélé. After Matveï Safonov misread a long ball on 36 minutes, goalkeeping coach Borja Alvarez copped the blast.
Set pieces brought a familiar routine, Enrique crouching while Pol marshalled. He even sprinted to clear a second ball. Early in the half they huddled, and at 59 minutes Barcola made way for Doué.
Stamford Bridge grew weary but he kept at it, briefing Zaïre-Emery and Achraf Hakimi, rebuking Hakimi for a non-existent foul, telling Lucas Hernandez to avoid a booking and urging Gonçalo Ramos. At 87 minutes he finally sat.
