For Joan Garcia, the wait for a senior Spain call-up was filled with uncertainty, mixed signals, and quiet hope.

According to a detailed report from Mundo Deportivo, the hours leading up to the official squad announcement were anything but encouraging for the Barcelona goalkeeper.

Inside his inner circle, the feeling was cautious at best, as there was a strong belief that Alex Remiro’s place in the squad was already secured. 

The general expectation was that the opportunity might come eventually, but perhaps not this time.

Suspense building up

Adding to the tension was a brief fitness concern. Following a scare against Newcastle, doctors from the Royal Spanish Football Federation had reached out to check on his condition. 

It was a routine enquiry, but one that naturally raised questions about his availability. Barcelona, however, responded that the goalkeeper was fully fit, available, and performing at a high level.

Garcia immediately reached for his phone, only to find it flooded with missed calls and messages.
