Kieran Gill’s Chelsea Confidential piece for the Daily Mail this week is all about Reece James.
The full back is on his longest consistent run without an injury in years, but missed England duty this week with an injury, creating a little bit of worry about his readiness.

According to Gill however, he shouldn’t be ruled out from Chelsea’s early kick off against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
“Reece James’ next appearance for Chelsea will be his 200th, with the impending double centurion having skipped the international break with England as a precaution after his hamstring history. It has been described as a minor issue, not major,” Gill wrote.
“Amid hope that James can be passed fit to travel to Nottingham Forest this Saturday, we will need to await official word from Maresca at his Friday press conference.
“The same goes for news on Enzo Fernandez. His swollen knee issue does not sound severe, and we’ve seen him warming up with bandaging on it before, but again, we should have a more concrete update come Friday.”
We would suspect that James is good to go, and will start. Whereas Enzo, despite having what sounds like a pretty minor issue, will be started on the bench with a view to arriving in the second half. Romeo Lavia is now fit and fresh and ready to replace him.
As ever, we await Enzo Maresca’s press conference eagerly for more detailed team news information.
Chelsea’s long term midfield future looks pretty secure, with Reggie Walsh about to sign a first professional contract at the club.
Another youngster the club are curious about is a Portugal youth international playing in Croatia… intriguing.
