West Ham fans have been told to not read too much into Amanda Staveley’s visit to the London Stadium on Tuesday night.

The 53-year-old was in attendance as the Hammers won 4-2 against Wolves to earn their first victory of the new Championship campaign.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side took the lead through Divine Mukasa, before a Jarrod Bowen penalty made it 2-0.

Wolves pulled one back before half-time through Marshall Munetsi, but goals from Mukasa and Konstantinos Mavropanos in the second 45 ultimately secured all three points.

The victory means that the London outfit have now earned five points from a possible 12, with their sights set on competing for promotion back to the Premier League this season.

But behind the scenes, Staveley has been involved in trying to become a minority shareholder in the club following their relegation to the Championship.

According to Claret & Hugh, Staveley was invited to the West Ham clash against Wolves by Vanessa Gold.

Gold inherited David Gold’s stake in the Hammers, which currently amounts to around 25 per cent, and it’s previously been reported that an agreement has been reached between the two parties regarding a deal.

However, Staveley is waiting for the outcome of the pre-emption rights, which allows current shareholder Daniel Kretinsky the opportunity to match the agreement, which will give him the 25 per cent stake instead.

It’s been claimed by a source within West Ham that Staveley was invited to the game by Gold, as the pair have become close during this process.

“Don’t read too much into it, Amanda was invited to the game by Vanessa Gold,” said the West Ham insider.

“They’ve become quite close but there is still a long way to go with the pre-emptive rights.”

Staveley was previously a minority shareholder at Newcastle, but has not been involved with the Magpies since July 2024.

Staveley may be close to becoming a shareholder at West Ham, or perhaps her attempts will be blocked by Kretinsky, but what most matters for fans now is that they are given some clarity on the situation.

It’s been a frustrating period for fans, particularly as the team have suffered relegation from the Premier League, and this lack of transparency is making matters worse.

Staveley being at the Wolves game certainly indicates that she’s not walking away from West Ham quietly, if she is to miss out on this deal with Gold.

But if Kretinsky is going to make use of his pre-emption rights, then there’s not much that can be done to prevent him from buying the Gold family stake ahead of Staveley.
