Inter are taking their time in finding a new center-back also because they have no concerns about the future of two of their regulars, Yann Aurel Bisseck and Carlos Augusto, despite some doubts dating back to before the summer window opened.
According to Mediaset, both are in talks to extend their contracts. There shouldn’t be particular issues, even though the agreements might not necessarily be finalized in short order.
Both Carlos Augusto and Bisseck are slated to add two years to their current Inter deals. Therefore, the expiration date will be pushed to 2030 for the former and 2031 for the latter. The Brazilian might have had some reservations considering his status, as he plays a lot, but he’s not a linchpin. The spotty minutes contributed to his exclusion from the World Cup. Other sides tried to poach him, but Christian Chivu confirmed his trust in him.
The German youngster was mildly believed to be a possible candidate for a ‘plusvalenza,’ but the Nerazzurri don’t have huge needs from that standpoint and prefer stability. Despite the two confirmations in the back, the officials are going full steam ahead for Cristian Romero. His agent has been spotted in Milan. His personal terms aren’t a big hurdle, but the management will seek to reduce his lofty price tag.
The former is surely a keeper, as he’s just scratching the surface, while the latter could have easily grown discontent in another team, but the atmosphere must be sound, and winning cures all aches after all. Their rearguard will be really stacked if they land the Argentine too.
