Inter and Como have both shown interest in Trevoh Chalobah and Davinson Sanchez, although neither has met Chelsea’s demands at this point. However, the two clubs discussed at the highest level and decided not to turn their skirmishes into a full-fledged rivalry.
According to Fabrizio Romano (via SOSFanta), the Lariani president Mirwan Suwarso reached out to the Nerazzurri to mend fences. The two clubs had come to blows during the Nico Paz saga. The Biancoblù also bid for Anan Khalaili in previous weeks.
Como suggested they wouldn’t participate in a bidding war if Inter really wanted Chalobah. They’ll eventually try again if their competitors move on. Therefore, the ball is in the Nerazzurri’s court. They have been in touch with the player’s agent, who’s keen on transferring to San Siro. Chelsea turned down a €25M proposal, plus bonuses.
Per Sky, the Lariani inquired about Sanchez with Galatasaray, but his €5M salary is a problem. They are defining the arrival of Yan Couto on loan with a €20M option to buy from Borussia Dortmund. He should be their third signing after Kaiki from Cruzeiro and Mattia Liberali from Catanzaro. Instead, the Nerazzurri probed Jhon Lucumi too, Sportitalia reports.
It had become a cat-and-mouse game in every chase, which, in reality, was quickly becoming detrimental and serving only the sellers’ interests, driving up valuations. The Nerazzurri seem to be searching for the right combination of experience, traits, and especially price tag. They can take their time, as they have three starters in place. Instead, the Lariani need a proper leader, as they didn’t keep Diego Carlos, and Marc-Oliver Kempf isn’t a lock to stay.
